Does it Matter Where I Go for Treatment?

Yes and no. Cancer treatments have been standardized across the United States.

All cancer facilities have access to the same medications and evidence-based best practices. There is no need to travel for standard cancer care.

However, due to the complexity of cancer treatments, new drugs and treatments go through a rigorous trial and approval process. There are opportunities to enroll in a drug trial or experimental treatment study, but you must go to a facility authorized for that research or study.

OSF Moeller Cancer Center Testing SuiteWe participate in numerous national research trials, and our team will inform you if you qualify for one of thesetrials.

Center of Excellence

In addition, our cancer program is the only program in the area to be certified by the American College of Surgeons as a Cancer Center of Excellence.

Being a designated Cancer Center of Excellence means that we offer you a multidisciplinary approach and access to all available treatment options.

Because cancer and cancer therapies affect so many aspects of your health, you will benefit from having more than one doctor involved in your care so they can share information and, with you, collectively make the best decision regarding your care.
