Together, they design an individualized program to meet your specific fitness goals.

Programs

Phase 1: Inpatient

This phase begins while you are in the hospital. You will be educated on your diagnosis and begin walking or doing other exercises to help in your recovery.

Phase 2: Monitored

Cardiac rehabilitation treadmillThis phase is designed to help you with cardiac conditions and achieve an optimal level of health and fitness, including those who have had heart surgery or heart catheterization.

If you qualify for these services, structured exercise programs are designed to meet your special lifestyle needs and exercise goals.

Workout sessions meet three times per week for up to 12 weeks in the Rehabilitation Center at the OSF HealthCare location of your choice.

Our professional staff, trained in cardiac rehabilitation and excise physiology, supervise each session.

Phased 3: Supervised Maintenance

Workout sessions are conducted in theRehabilitation Center at multiple OSF HealthCare locations.Your provider may recommend supervised exercise.

Who Can Benefit from the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program?

The program is recommended for patients who:

  • Are at risk for developing coronary artery disease
  • Have angina pectoris
  • Have had heart surgery
  • Have had a heart attack
  • Have had a cardiac stent placement
  • Have congestive heart failure
  • Have peripheral artery disease

How to Enroll

A doctor’s consent is required for any phase of the program. Our team will work with you and your doctor to determine a plan appropriate for your needs.
