What medical change has impacted your specialty the most since you began practicing medicine?
Newer interventional techniques for the acute treatment of stroke and research evidence proving the benefit of surgical treatment for large ischemic strokes.
Why did you choose your specialty?
I get to care for critically ill patients and have a large impact on their outcomes and lives.
Why did you choose Peoria, Illinois, to practice when you could have gone anywhere in the country?
The Stroke Team at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center is one of the best in the world. We have become pioneers in the treatment of this deadly disease.
Do you have any advice to give your patients?
Call 911 at the first sign/symptom of a stroke! ! Ask if you are eligible for TPA, or other treatments. Time is Brain!
