OSF Saint Paul celebrates 20th annual golf play day

The Mendota community came together on August 18 to support OSF HealthCare Saint Paul Medical Center during the 20thannual ‘Fore the Hospital’ golf play day, held at Mendota Golf Club.

More than 100 golfers turned out for the 9-hole afternoon scramble, which was hosted by the OSF HealthCare Foundation. Last year’s event raised more than $17,000.

“This is a fun, laidback event that raises money to support the communities OSF Saint Paul serve in the I-80 region,” says Cherie Reynolds, OSF HealthCare Foundation director of development for the I-80 region. “In the past, for example, this event has benefitted our community gardens program, which provides thousands of pounds of food for local residents. We couldn’t be as successful as we are without the support of our sponsors, participants, the Mendota community and our Mission Partners (employees).”

Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the I-80 Innovation Hub. Located at OSF Saint Paul Medical Center, the Innovation Hub was launched in 2022 with phase one focusing on education and training opportunities for OSF HealthCare Mission Partners and the development of innovative health care solutions.

“We are proud of what our Innovation Hub has achieved so far and look forward to continuing to engage our Mission Partners, patients and communities in this work,” says Dawn Trompeter, president of OSF Saint Paul Medical Center.

This year’s golf play day featured prizes, raffles and silent auction items that were donated by OSF Mission Partners. Golfers enjoyed preparing their own steaks and pork chops for dinner and each golfer received a complimentary gift recognizing the 20thanniversary.
