History

When St. Mary’s Hospital in Streator closed, OSF HealthCare embraced the opportunity to improve the way care is delivered in the small town and ultimately pave the way for establishing healthier rural communities.

OSF HealthCare Center for Health – Streator opened its doors on January 4, 2016. Since that time, OSF HealthCare has worked to transform how health care is delivered in a rural community like Streator.

OSF Innovationand OSF HealthCare Center for Health – Streator have partnered with the community to create a new, sustainable framework for rural health care, leveraging technology that will create community engagement and access to care where and when patients need it.

In October 2017, a $30.5 million renovation for OSF HealthCare Center for Health – Streator was announced as a key element of OSF HealthCare’s overall plan to promote health and wellness in the Streator community.

Carol Friesen, OSF HealthCare Northern Region CEO says, "Serving rural communities is a specialty of ours and we relish the opportunity in Streator."
