Admission Requirements

Academic Requirements

  • Minimum of an Associate’s Degree, any major is acceptable, minimum GPA of 2.5; Admission procedures favor applicants with excellent academic achievement.
  • Mandatory prerequisite coursework:
  1. College math course of "Concepts of Math" or "College Algebra", equivalent to Math 110 or Math 115 at Illinois Central College, East Peoria; preferably completed within past five years. Applicants having completed the higher level course and more recently are given preference.
  2. College "Human Anatomy and Physiology (with lab)" with a minimum grade of "C"; this course must be equivalent to BIOL 140, BIOL 205/BIOL 206 at Illinois Central College, East Peoria; completed within the past five years.

NOTE: Applicants may take the above courses or be completing their degree during the Spring semester before the school year begins. However, they will be required to submit a mid-term grade during the interview process. If the applicant is accepted into the program, it is contingent on the successful completion of the coursework with a "C" or better.

Health/Ethical Requirements

  • Applicants must be in good health and have the ability to safely perform the duties of a staff radiographer. Therefore, conditional acceptance into the program is offered to those entering the school until an acceptable physical examination is performed by the Center for Occupational Health of OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, which includes immunizations, drug/alcohol screen
  • A criminal background check will also be conducted by Human Resources.
  • Unacceptable results of any of these will prevent the applicant from participating in clinical education at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center clinical sites; the applicant, therefore, would not be admitted into the program.

Admission Procedure

  1. The School of Radiography accepts applications at any time during the year, up toFebruary 11 deadline. Applications received after the deadline will be held for the following school year.
  2. Applicants submits the following:
    1. Completed application with $50 application fee; please include a current email address on your application.
    2. Official transcripts of all high school(s) and college(s) attended
    3. Proof of degree conferred on the transcripts
    4. Three reference forms by individuals other than family
  3. When all admission criteria are received by the school, the information is evaluated to determine if the applicant meets minimum requirements. Those candidates are invited for an evening of Orientation.
  4. After candidates attend Orientation, they are invited to the medical center to tour/observe with a current student in the program and interview with program officials.
  5. Applicants who have completed all steps of the admission procedure will be notified of their acceptance status in writing within about six (6) weeks of their interview. A maximum of eleven students are accepted into the school each year.
  6. Those accepting the offer to enter the School of Radiography must confirm in writing with a $200 deposit. The deposit will be deducted from the tuition due in August.
  7. Acceptance into the program is conditional based on their passing a physical examination (including drug/alcohol testing), criminal background check, and successful completion of any required college course work (if applicable).
  8. The School of Radiography reserves the right to limit the number of applicants interviewed during years when excessive numbers of applications are received. In this situation, top academic performers will be selected for interview.

TOEFL policy

TOEFL scores (Test Of English as a Foreign Language must be submitted if English is not the applicant’s native language. A minimum score of 600 must be obtained to be considered for admission.

Advance Placement

Advanced placement of former Radiographers and students from other RADIOGRAPHER PROGRAMS is not offered due to the difficulty in assessing clinical performance and differing course content across educational programs.
