Adult Congenital Heart Program
The Adult Congenital Heart Program serves adolescents and adults with congenital heart disease. Our team of experts, including three board-certified adult congenital cardiologists provides innovative care in treating complex anatomy and heart function in adults with congenital heart disease.
As a high volume adult congenital heart clinic, we have expertise in treating long-term survivors and newly diagnosed patients with congenital heart disease.
OSF HealthCare Children's Hospital of Illinois isaccredited as a comprehensive care centerby the Adult Congenital Heart Association (ACHA). This makes OSF Children's Hospital one of the first 30 organizations in the country with this designation and the only one in Illinois.
More than 90 percent of newborns with congenital heart disease live into adulthood. Although most patients undergo successful neonatal and childhood repairs, patients will need procedures and follow-up throughout their lives. There are currently more than two million adult congenital heart patients living in the U.S., and more adults with congenital heart disease than children.
